Squids in tomato sauce, simple and cheap for a quick meal

These squids in tomato sauce are quick to prepare. A perfect recipe for two or three large meals during the week. Especially if you accompany this dish with a good amount of steamed Spanish rice (with a little fried garlic). This dish makes life easier! A complete and cheap dish for everyday life.

  • 1 kg of squid rings
  • 2 garlics
  • 1 onion
  • ½ red bell pepper
  • 2 cayenne peppers
  • 2 tbsp of tomato paste
  • 1 kg of tomato pulp
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Black pepper and salt

How to make the squids in tomato sauce:

  1. In a large frying pan, add the finely chopped onion, the garlic cloves and the bell pepper. Sauté the vegetables over medium heat for 20 minutes with a good drizzle of oil and a pinch of salt.
  2. Once all the vegetables are browned, add the squid and chillies and cook on high heat for 10 minutes. Then add the tomato pulp and the concentrate. Add a little salt and pepper and cover the pan but not completely.
  3. Cook over medium heat for 25 minutes. Once the time is up, check the salt, pepper and spiciness. Top up if necessary. If your sauce is too acidic from the tomato, add a little sugar. This will depend on the quality of the tomato.
