The best nudist beach in the world, a wild landscape in southern Spain

Located some 20 kilometres northwest of Tarifa on the Atlantic coast, Bolonia beach is best known for its stunning scenery and untouched setting. However, not everybody realises that Bolonia beach, according to the British travel website Globehunters, is the best nudist beach in the world.

One of the more outstanding characteristics of this beach is its great dune, with a height of more than 30 metres. Reaching the top is a challenge, though the panorama it offers at its peak makes it worth the effort.

Bolonia beach is also famous for its crystal-clear water and fine golden sand. It stretches for more than three kilometres, giving one enough space to enjoy the sun and sea without ever feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, Bolonia is known to be relatively quiet and less frequented than the region’s other beaches, making it an idyllic spot for those wishing to escape the bustle of more popular beaches.

The natural environment of Bolonia is its other charm. The beach is surrounded by the Parque Natural del Estrecho, a protected area that is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Nature lovers can explore the winding footpaths along the coast, taking in the spectacular views and the abundant wildlife of the area. Bolonia is also a birdwatcher’s paradise as it is a well-known nesting place for migratory birds.

Not only is Bolonia a place of natural beauty and the best nudist beach in the world: it is also a historic treasure. At the far south end of the beach lies Baelo Claudia, an old Roman settlement dating from the second century BCE. The remains of this Roman town include a noteworthy theatre and temple, both silent witnesses to the ancient splendour of the region. Visitors can immerse themselves in the history of the area by walking the ancient cobblestone streets and exploring the ruins.

Apart from its natural beauty and historic interest, Bolonia offers a broad range of services and amenities for any visitor. There are restaurants and beach bars along the shore offering delicious local cuisine such as fresh seafood and fish. There are also sites, which take advantage of the area’s favourable winds, to practice water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.

In addition to Bolonia beach, two more Spanish nudist beaches make Globehunter’s top ten ranking. Specifically, Cavallet beach at number five and El Torn beach at number seven.

Cavallet beach is a true paradise located on the island of Ibiza. Its extensive fine golden sands melting into the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea offer a breathtaking landscape. More precisely, the beach is 1,100 metres long and some forty metres wide, with lush vegetation and impressive dunes creating a truly unique place. Cavallet is also famous for its migratory bird reserve and its spectacular view of the coast. It is the ideal place to kick back, take some sun and enjoy the calm.

El Torn beach is a hidden delight on the Costa Dorada in Tarragona. It is recognised as one of Europe’s best nudist beaches and attracts visitors from all over the world. El Torn stands out for its translucent waters and fine golden sands set in an indescribably beautiful natural surrounding. This beach is protected by dunes and pine forests. In addition to its natural wonders, El Torn provides quality services such as dining, camping and sporting activities. It really is the perfect place for those who seek to slow down, connect with nature and take delight in a paradisiacal setting carefree of any clothing.
