With more than 30,000 known caves in Spain, we can say that we have one of the best networks of caves for tourists in Europe. After the success of our post about “5 Caves in Spain That You Can Not Miss,” we have chosen to expand the list and add 5 more caves. Will you join us?

The Soplao Cave (Cantabria)

Discovered at the beginning of the twentieth century, this cavity has been modified to offer visitors an interesting walking tour through its large galleries and rooms. The luminous effects and sound effects will make the hour long journey an unforgettable experience.

Grotto of Águila (Ávila)

9 kilometers from the “Arenas of San Pedro,” and south of the “Sierra de Gredos,” we find this interesting grotto that was discovered by chance in 1963. After a lot of work on the caves, the enclosure opened to the public in 1964. We can actually visit it any day of the year. The Great Hall stands out in this attraction, where you can see the impressive geological formations that have been formed for thousands of years. A little-known grotto but, no doubt, impressive.

Caves of Zugarramurdi (Navarra)

Very close to the border with France, in the western Pyrenees, we find these well-known caves that have become famous for stories of witches and covens who allegedly developed in them long ago. The tours of these caves are impressive despite the absence of stalactites, stalagmites or cave paintings, since the mysterious aura that surrounds them are an important attraction for all visitors.

Nerja Cave (Málaga)

This beautiful town boasts one of the most topographical development caves in Andalusia. The tourist area covers the lower galleries and represents a quarter of the total path of the cave, where you can admire the magnitude and beauty of its stalactites and stalagmites. Although you cannot visit the whole cave, the route is quite spacious and very interesting. It is one of the caves in Spain that you should not miss.

Artá Cave (Mallorca)

Located in the municipality of Capdepera and surrounded by mountains that rise above the sea, we find this wonderful cave that has doesn’t even compare to the Caves of Drach. It offers an interesting 40 minute tourthat runs through all its rooms to admire the impressive geological formations, such as the stalagmite 22 meters high in the “sala de la Reina”, or the “Queen’s room.” On the way out you can gaze at the spectacular views over the Bay of Canyamel.
