Sleep in Buitrago del Lozoya

Buitrago de Lozoya is located in the Lozoya river valley and it has the best preserved walled enclosure of the Community of Madrid. The powerful Mendoza family guarded behind those walls the princess Joanna, “La Beltraneja”, king Henry IV of Castile’s daughter.

In 1993 it was declared Historic-Artistic Site. There are a lot of places to visit in Buitrago de Lozoya, and it’s the starting point for a trip in the Lozoya valley, with many forest tracks and reservoirs.

If you plan to stay in Buitrago de Lozoya, here are our suggestions.

Our first recommendation is the Hotel La Beltraneja, that offers exclusive suites with original stone walls and wooden beams from the Buitrago del Lozoya castle. The suites are decorated in warm colours, with a comfortable sofá and a filtration systems to control the illumination. There is a little library with a selection of travel guides.

The Hostal Madrid Paris is another good option. It is a modest accommodation with simple rooms. The rooms have nice views and a private bathroom with all the amenities you need. The hotel’s restaurant serves local dishes and tapas.

If you’re looking for an accommodation outside of Buitrago de Lozoya to get to know the area, we can recommend you the Hospedería El Arco, in Villavieja del Lozoya. The hotel has spacious rooms, with a simple decoration based on light and white wood furniture. The rooms have a private bathroom. The breakfast is continental and the restaurant offers Spanish seasonal food. There is a common hall with brick walls and nice views.
