Eating in Sierra Nevada

Located in the Penibetic System, the the ski resort of Sierra Nevada has become a world reference for fans of snow sports. It has 124 slopes, divided into 19 greens, 41 blue, 50 red, 7 black and 7 snow parks that add up to a total of 106 km of skiable surface. During the summer and to keep the station active, it offers guided tours to multi-adventure activities or descents. Do you want to know where to eat in Sierra Nevada?

Sierra Nevada offers a gastronomic experience as good as its incredible beauty. The appetizing cuisine of the area is characterized by its high caloric power because, due to the low temperatures, the complicated access of some municipalities and the arduous agricultural and livestock tasks of the area, the locals needed to replenish energies with strong dishes. The most famous at lunchtime in Sierra Nevada are soups and stews where meat and oils with D.O.P. Poniente de Granada and Montes de Granada will be the main protagonists. Do not miss the potajes, the chickpea and wheat stew, the San Antón pot, the rabbit for the farmer or the spinach and beans stew. Try to complete all this culinary experience with the wine with D.O. Granada, perfect to accompany some good beans with ham, another classic of Granada cuisine. And to finish the lucht in Sierra Nevada, give it a sweet touch with desserts like the tocino de cielo, the felipe or the rosco.

If you come skying to Sierra Nevada and you love tapas the best option for you is going to Tito Tapas. The establishment is perfect to drink a beer or whatever you want after a morning of sport. The tapas are delicious and its presentation is really nice. Despite it is not one of the cheapest places it is worth it.

Bar Tito

Thanks to the large size of the ski resort, it is not difficult to find good quality restaurants around. Most of the bars and restaurants of Sierra Nevada are in the lower area of the station. La Antorcha restaurant is one of the most recommended thanks to the quality of the meat and the treatment of the staff. Its specialty is meat on the stone, whether pork or veal and his sausage tree attracts a lot of attention; Although this establishment is not suitable for all budgets, since the prices tend to be somewhat high.

Another highly recommended establishment is Los Jamones Restaurant, specialised in typical food of the area. Do not leave without tasting the delicious Alpujarra crumbs, the garlic soup, the oxtail, the Alpujarran dish or the grilled meat. Everything is exquisite!

In the central square of Pradollano, there is the restaurant La Muralla; the staff is fantastic and the meat is simply spectacular. As expected, its star dish is the ribeye, although they have other delicacies such as the oxtail with chocolate or the aubergine miloja that will not leave you indifferent either. We recommend reserving a table before going, because most of the time it is overflowing.
