This town that already appears in Codice Calixtino is traditionally known for their cheese. If you go to eat in Palas de Rey we recommend Arzúa-Ulloa cheese and a good wine. The restaurants and bars are inexpensive and the food is good quality. Additionally, they offer delicious seasonal food on their menus. The perfect stop along the Way to Santiago route!

The most excellent product in Palas de Rey is the Arzúa-Ulloa cheese which is made in the municipalities of Arzúa, Melide, O Pino, Monterroso and Palas de Rei. This cheese has been protected under the certificate of origin since 1989. It is so important that, since 1976, it is celebrated every first Sunday in March with La Fiesta del Queso de Arzúa and the Fiesta de Galicia de Interés Turístico. These are ideal opportunities to try this tasty product and get to know its depth.
