Sant Sadurní d’Anoia is probably the greatest center of production of the Cava from Catalonia. Its streets are full of the wineries with more prestige in an international level. The connection with the cava is so strong that it is usually used as another ingredient in the menus of restaurants. During the first weekend of October, the Fiesta del Cava takes place, when the different wineries offer their products to the public.
The gastronomy of the village has many traditional and classic touches. Its ingredients come from the vegetable gardens and the ranching. The most popular meat is the bird one, specially the cock, duck and the turkey. Regarding the sweets, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia is the city of chocolate. Between the most famous sweets of this place the Tapones de Cava (chocolate and liquor bonbons) and the Noiets (made with a chocolate and meringue dough) are the most representative of the region. Apart from Cava, the wineries make delicious wines such as the D.O. Catalunya and Penedès.
