As a locality that belongs to Segovia, roasted lamb is the typical dish to order in Riaza. Anyway, you will also have the chance to try delicious fishes. There are a great variety of restaurants and bars that will let you enjoy the traditional gastronomy. Do you join us?

The gastronomy os Riaza is diverse. As you may know the best-known dish is the traditional style roasted lamb that is just cooked with water and salt. Depending on the season you can find different options such as pig parts after the Matanza, the caldereta of cod and trout. Chestnuts are also ingredients from the area and in winter they are boiled with anise and then eaten.

In terms of beverages, there is a lemonade made with Ribera del Duero wine, sugar, cinnamon and lemon skins. It is left on a container or some days before it can be bottled and tasted. In case that is not enough, desserts are really importat for Riaza’s gastronomy: amarguillos, tortas de chicharrones, tortas sobadas… What else could you ask for?

If you want to have a drink with some tapas we recommend you the Espejo Gastrobar. It is perfect to try some torreznos and they also give away tapas when you order a beer or a glass of wine.

La Porticada is another great option to go “de tapeo” as it is famous for its mini-hamburgers. If you decide to have lunch by eating raciones you should take into considerations that the servings are very big. Don’t leave without trying their croquetas de boletus.

Last but not least, you can go to El Mesón Las Columnas to try original and recently made tapas.

La Porticada

One of the most characteristic restaurants from Riaza is La Porticada. They are specialised in roasted baby lamb, wild mushrooms and beef from Sierra de Riazana. You will love its roasted pork because it is crunchy and juicy at the same time.

El Mesón de Las Columnas is also famous for its lamb and spoon dishes such as the callos which will warm you up in winter. The baby lamb ribs are delicious as well!

Another option is Ermita de Hontarares where they offer a short menu with traditional dishes: manitas de cerdo, saquitos de rabo de toro, etc. Wonderfull!!!
