Eating in Maderuelo

Eating in Maderuelo

One of the best options if you decide to eat in Maderuelo would be the juicy roasted cordero de lechal. The cheese and wine are also perfect to enjoy the gastronomy experience of the village. Even though Maderuelo doesn’t have a lot of traditional dishes, the recipes that are cooked here are made with love and carefulness. There’s not a lot of restaurants and bars to eat in Maderuelo, but the ones that exist are enough to leave you with a full belly and a happy heart.

If you want to know what to eat in Maderuelo, we suggest the cordero de lechal (lamb) as it is the main dish of this village. It has a special flavor as the lambs are feed with aromatic bushes. You should also consider the read meats, manitas de cerdo rellenas or seasonal eggs scrambled with mushwooms, which are always on the menus of any restaurant. Try the morcillas (blood sausage) and homemade chorizos, picadillo adobado (minced chorizo) and the other sausages of Segovia. You could also order the delicious artisan duck foie or the curated sheep cheese, apart from a tasty variety of salads and roasted peppers.

We recommend you to try a good wine Vino D.O. Valtiendas or the D.O. Ribera del Duero, as Maderuelo is very close to this territory. Don’t forget to finish your meal with the puff pastries, which you will be able to enjoy whether warm or cold, some figs cooked with wine, stuffed with peanuts or covered in dark chocolate or a cheesecake. There are a lot of dessert possibilities in this welcoming village.

If you want to eat some tapas try the Posada del Medievo. The croquetas, potato tortillas, morcilla and torreznos are some of our favorites. The Mirador de los Templarios has some amazing views and tasty tapas, such as the tortillas and montaditos. They also have a very economical menu.

You will find a traditional but modern offer of places to eat in Maderuelo. The Posada del Medievo, restaurant that belongs to the lodge that has the same name, offers a broad menu of Castilian recipes and medieval dishes. This place is great to host celebrations and events. We recommend their judiones.

If you are interested in trying an “emotional cooking”, based on seasonal products, go to the hotel Boutique & Spa Capítulo Trece. Remember to reserve a table before 7PM.

After the bridge that crosses the river Riaza, in the village of El Molino, there’s a restaurant called Veracruz, which has a wood stove, a terrace and a garden. Great views and an acceptable quality. The black rice with cuttlefish is one of their most popular dishes.
