There’s a lot to eat in Valverde – Pajares and its surroundings, a place famous for the gastronomy of the Lena council, in which territory the resort was built. The meat products are the main ingredient in this hill, filling cuisine. The grilled calf, roasted kid, trips, rabbit and many other hunt recipes are some of the dishes we can find in this hill area. But if we are looking for the main specialty, the lamb a la estaca is the answer, held by strips and roasted in a fire.
The trout, fished in the surrounding rivers, are another ingredient from the local gastronomy and the main fish of the region. But Valgrande-Pajares also has another types of fish that come from the Cantabrian shore. The villages that form the Lena council are the proof that this region has a great dessert tradition: rice pudding, the suspiros de Pajares or the borrachines are a great option to fish your meal in this place.
Even if there’s no place to eat tapas here, if what you want is a faster and lighter meal, the Cafetería Cueto Negro will enable you to find bocadillos (and a daily menu). The best thing? The views! Located 1800 meters high, one of the most incredible views of this community can be seen from here. If you are lucky and the weather is good, you could eat something in the lower part.

The hostel Albergue Toribión de Llanos is the perfect place to rest and eat a menu in their dining room. Simple dishes with a lot of flavor. In Pola de Lena (19km away) you will find many restaurants where you can enjoy the Asturian gastronomy, such as La Bodeguina or the cidery Los Callacíos.
