Eating in Sabiñánigo

Eating in Sabiñánigo

Sabiñánigo is a locality that is strategically located at the entrance of the Tena Valley and nearby the Aragón river. This location was one of the main reasons why the Romans decided to settle there more than two thousand years ago. The food from Sabiñanigo is based on pillars such as the game meat, fishing, cattle raising and the local orchards.

When eating in Sabiñánigo products that come from from the mountains, orchards and rivers are combined giving place to delicious dishes such as grilled fish, lamb and ternasco. Also cold meat is produced in the area giving place to good sausages and tortetas. Some typical recipes are the Pollo al Chilindrón and the Jarretes guisados that come along some vegetables. In addition, most of the restaurants and bars from Sabiñánigo offer migas and patatas encebolladas (potatoes with onions).

Among the fishes the most important ones are the trout and the cod. Wines from Aragón accompaign each meal and have the DO such as the Somontano.
