Between the narrow streets perpendicular to the port of this old sailors’ district, there are buildings of humble people, whose balconies display the hanging clothes, with the sonorous and varied atmosphere of a popular neighborhood. Interestingly, such a popular neighborhood was designed by military engineers after the War of Succession and is a product of more rational urbanism. Today it is a recreational area that has become one of the most tourist areas in Barcelona. There is a lot to see in La Barceloneta, so we recommend contemplating it from the sea in one of the “swallows” that leave the port, and then walk along this stretch of coastline.
