Crossroads, Castile gate, San Esteban was conquered by the Cid after two centuries of fights against the Muslims. His loyalty to the child king Alfonso VIII was worth to him to host the first meeting of Cortes of Castile (and of Europe, although Leon contests it).
When you are in San Esteban de Gormaz you can’t miss to visit the Church of San Miguel and the Church of the Virgen del Rivero.

There are few accommodations in San Esteban de Gormaz.
Our first recommendation is the Hotel Rivera de Duero, a stylish hotel with a quiet and elegant atmosphere. Its restaurant “El Bomba” has a firewood oven and they serve the best meat and game dishes. The architecture is strong and rustic and there is an events room for up to 50 people.
The Zaguan del Rivero is a rural house located in front of the Church of San Miguel. Even if the colors of the walls are a bit garish, it is a nice house. It has a shared kitchen and the location is perfect if you want to practice hiking, cycling or canoeing.
The rural house Prensa de Vino is located in Peñalba de San Esteban, a beautiful village located a few kilometers from San Esteban de Gormaz. There is a cave/cellar that you can visit. The breakfast is complete and they serve fresh-squeezed orange juice.
