Route around the 5 wineries D.O.CO Rioja

Autumn is a perfect time to get into the different wineries distributed all over Spain. Today we start with a tour along the banks of the river Ebro to show you 5 wineries that are worth visiting, and where to enjoy incredible wine tastings.
We start the route in Aldeanueva de Ebro, a small village between Calahorra and Alfaro that has a long wine tradition. There we find Aldeanueva Vineyards, the largest winery of La Rioja and main cooperative of La Rioja Baja. The facilities include the possibility of a guided tour from Monday to Saturday at 11 in the morning.

We approach the capital of La Rioja to amaze us with two other wineries located at one side of the road:
First we go to the impressive vineyards of Marqués de Murrieta, were highlights the Castle of Ygay as a symbol of its long history. They offer guided tours throughout the whole complex, wine-tasting courses and a wine deluxe area where you can taste their wines without an appointment.

Getting closer to Logroño, we find the Ontañón Vineyard-Museum, a space where wine merges with art and are both linked to mythology thanks to the artist Miguel Ángel Sainz (1955-2002). They offer different formats of affordable guided all public and a restaurant service featuring a traditional menu accompanied, of course, of their best wines.

We move into La Rioja Alavesa and go to Elciego to visit The City of the Wine of Marqués de Riscal, a complex that offers not only the traditional visit with wine tastings but other original experiences in its modern hotel within its winery and a Spa that offers winetherapy services. A real luxury.

We ended up at Laguardia to amaze us with the fabulous building of the Bodegas Ysios, designed by the famous architect Santiago Calatrava, which is integrated with the surroundings of the Cantabrian Hills. A walk through the surrounding areas will marvel you.
